Fall 2011 Trends: How To Be A Trendsetter This Fall.

This fall be a trendsetter not a follower, here are a few simple tricks that will make your standout in a crowd.


In order to make it look current, layer it with something no one is expecting, play with texture and patterns.

Striped Pants

Give your jeans a breather and switch them up for striped trousers, the look is very chic and slimming. Try them cropped and full length, it’s a fresh alternative to jeans.

Velvet Dress

The trick for this is to find a wrap dress which is flattering to almost every figure.  You can wear this for day and night. Wear them with closed toe shoes for an office friendly look or buy one with the hem a little shorter for a night out on the town.

Hints of Red

Spice up the 50‘s polka dot dress look with a hint of red, whether it’s a red purse or red shoes, you’ll be sure to make the look pop.

Maxi Skirt

These long skirts can be worn all year round you can dress it down with a tank top and flats to run errands or wear them with pumps and blazer for a lean look. Now don’t freak out if you’re short this look can work for you as well, just make sure not to bulk it up, were fitting tops and make sure the skirt isn’t too long or too shirt this will make you look frumpy and short.


In order to make this look pop pair a boxy blazer with leather leggings, giving you a fashion forward alternative to s suit. This look can also take you from day to night, just add a few statement pieces, like a big ring or necklaces and you’re ready to hit the town.

Leather Dress

Don’t worry we are not going for the biker chic look here; look for ones that have different details on it, like lace around the hem or pockets. Try and look for ones that have a feminine touch.

Menswear Print

Wear these prints in a feminine style, for example houndstooth looks mod when wearing the print on a short skirt and looks extremely chic when worn in a fitted short blazer.


The trick to using floral during fall is the color scheme on the fabric, go for a dusky palette, for example mustard, plum. Try picturing the colors with a tiny bit of grey; this will drop the intensity of the color, making it appropriate for fall.

Tie Neck Blouses

Try silky blouses with neck ties, it will give you a very chic look. Wear the blouse with trousers to go to the office, pair it with skinny jeans for lunch with friends.

Bold Sheath

We know we must all have a LBD; it’s the go to dress when we have an unexpected event.  Well a bright sheath is the next item you should have in your closet it can be as a flattering as a LBD. The difference is that it will be more memorable, try a short or long hemline, depends were you will be wearing it to. Just accessorize so you can give it your personal style.
